Annapolis Recreation and Parks, in partnership with the City’s Housing Authority and the Annapolis Youth Sports organization, announce the fourth annual 17 and Under Summer Basketball League “Get Real With Yourself”. The league will include teams from the City of Annapolis and surrounding areas. All teams will qualify for a single-elimination playoff tournament at the end of the regular season.

All outdoor games will take place each Saturday at the Robinwood Recreation Center, 1469 Tyler Avenue in Annapolis beginning Saturday, May 14 at 6 p.m. The cost per team is $200. The registration deadline is Saturday, May 7. Each player is required to show a birth certificate or an official school document as proof of age in order to play. The league is highly competitive. In addition, each player must attend two mandatory educational workshops.

To register for the 17 and Under Summer Basketball League “Get Real With Yourself”, please contact Archie Trader at [email protected] or 443.569.9845.

The partnering organizations for the basketball league will provide a strong “Servant Leadership Approach” to enhance the personal growth of Annapolis youth. Educational workshops will include information about drug prevention, teen pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted diseases, personal health, gang awareness, conflict resolution, career/job readiness, high school graduation requirements and goal setting.

We are seeking adult volunteers to serve as workshop facilitators. For six weeks, beginning on Saturday, May 14, the workshops will be held 7:30 – 8 p.m. at the Robinwood Recreation Center, 1469 Tyler Avenue in Annapolis. If you are willing to lead one of the education workshops, please contact Archie Trader at [email protected] or 443.569.9845 by Saturday, May 7.
