Robert Andrew Salon & Spa Raises $5500

Eric Flynn and his parents at the fundraiser

Robert Andrew as one of the top salons and spas on the east coast hosted a fundraiser for a local 5 year old boy, Eric Flynn, and his family, who experienced an illness where he lost both legs below the knee. He has already undergone several surgeries and has a long road ahead with many prosthetics to purchase. His story in detail:

Approximately two weeks before Christmas, Eric a kindergartner at Solley Elementary School, had flu-like symptoms and was taken to the hospital where he was sent home with the doctors thinking it was just the flu. The next day, he still had a high fever and complained of pain in one leg. His parents took him back to the emergency room to then be sent to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Over the next two weeks, his body swelled until he was unrecognizable and he was in ICU receiving dialysis and on life support. Apparently a Strep infection invaded his body and it was not known if he would survive. He finally started getting better but a couple days after Christmas, both his legs had to be amputated below the knee in order for him to recover.

Friday, February 11th from 5-9pm, $5500 was collected and donated by providing $25 haircuts, threading, express manicures and pedicures, and airbrush tanning. We also had local companies and individuals make personal donations directly to the family.

SFC Daniel Metzdorf also flew in from Fort Bragg, NC to show support for Eric as he is the first knee amputee to remain on active duty in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. He is the brother of Steve Metzdorf, Robert Andrew Hair Manager. Daniel has been awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal, among several other high ranking achievements for his service.
