Meet The Press Comes To Annapolis

<—Note: don’t forget to share this post with your facebook friends and twitter followers!

For the second year, Eye On Annapolis has been invited to participate as a panelist in the P.R. Bazaar. What is a P.R. Bazaar? Read on and be sure to share this information with any organizations or small businesses who need some help getting the word out! And if you attend, please be sure to introduce yourself!

The 2011 edition of P.R. Bazaar will be held the evenings of Monday, April 4 and 11.  The doors open at 6:15 p.m. for registration and networking. The panel discussion begins at 7 p.m. on both evenings.

There are many excellent print and broadcast media in this area. To enable their representatives to participate, for the fourth year in a row, the event takes place over two evenings. Attendees can choose to go to the first, the second or both. There will be a different set of panelists each evening.

Unless there’s a major breaking story, 15 local seasoned editors, reporters or producers have volunteered their time to serve as panelists at the annual P.R. Bazaar, held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road, in Annapolis, Maryland, 21401.

P.R. Bazaar is open to the public. That includes folks handling public relations duties with cultural groups or non-profits such as PTAs, Scouts, School Clubs and Sports, associations, trade groups, community groups, youth groups, and charitable organizations; or small businesses and government agencies. All are welcome to attend.

This is a very basic introduction to local, local, local media. Instead of a panel responding to questions from the audience, after the panelists introduce themselves, they will go into the audience for “Rotating Round Table” discussions with groups of audience members. That way, everyone gets to interact in a small group setting with all the media representatives.

Will you learn enough to run a professional campaign? Possibly. The real intent is to help you make connections with people – they could be your neighbors – who are in the business of “getting the news out.” Find out what they want – or don’t want. Learn the best way to contact them – or what really annoys them.

So far, these media have agreed to participate on the PR Bazaar panels:

On April 4 Eye On Annapolis, SpinSheet and PropTalk Magazines, Taste of the Bay Magazine, Bay Weekly, Greater Annapolis Patch, Maryland Public Television, The Capital Newspaper and Capital Style Magazine, and The Maryland Gazette.
On April 11Severna Park Patch, Severna Park Voice, 1430 WNAV Radio, Chesapeake Family/My Green Guide Maryland, What’s Up? Media Group, The Capital Newspaper, and Chesapeake Current.

There will also be some P.R. pros on hand to provide their perspectives, too!

Past attendees have commented the two evenings provide a good opportunity to meet various members of the media in a relaxed atmosphere. “It’s helpful to learn preferences and other details from various media representatives all at one sitting,” said one. This is also an opportunity to network with other members of the audience.

Admission is a $10 donation per person for one evening, $18.00 per person to attend both events. Checks may be made out to “UUCA” and presented at the door, or mailed by March 25 to PR Bazaar, c/o UUCA, 333 DuBois Road, Annapolis MD  21401.

RSVP early to ensure a seat and enough take-away materials for everyone.  Register online or by calling 410-349-0945. Please specify whether you are attending April 4, April 11 or both evenings.

Light refreshments will be served.
