County Executive John R. Leopold is urging citizens to get involved in Homeless Resource Day, which will be held on March 26 at Glen Burnie High School.
“This event has been very successful in helping people get back on their feet and off the street,” County Executive Leopold. “The economy has been very difficult and we have seen a significant impact on children and families. Homeless Resource Day, an event I started three years ago, provides a place where people can obtain a host of services, from something as simple as a haircut to assistance with job training, job placement and housing.”
“Children and adults access transportation, medical, housing, and job assistance, as well as personal hygiene and quality of life resources While these services are commonplace for most County residents, the homeless often have a difficult time accessing these resources,” County Executive Leopold said. “For this reason, our Partnership Board to End Homelessness in Anne Arundel County has worked to create this event every year. We have 50 service providers participating from
government, non-profit, schools, and individuals. Over 300 volunteers assist this day serving as guides, greeters, translators, and discharge personnel.”

Last year, 410 adults and children obtained the following services:
● 43 Birth Certificates
● 149 Housing applications
● 60 MVA photo identification cards
● 100 Job Information Requests
● 532 Health Service Encounters
