Baysox Celebrate Opening Of Season

You know it is spring when the Baysox roll out the red carpet for their season ticket holders and families from around the area to kick off another exciting season of baseball in Bowie.

This year, they have many surprises up their sleeve and have teamed up with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to bring awareness to the needs of the Chesapeake Bay that we all love.

The Baysox have invited organizations that work with the Trust to participate in fundraisers every Friday night at Prince George’s Stadium this season.  And to highlight the good work of these partners, the Baysox will take the field in new alternate jerseys featuring an alternate logo every Friday night.

“The Chesapeake Bay is an important component to life in Maryland,” Brian Shallcross, General Manager of the Baysox said.  “We are very pleased to work with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to promote environmental stewardship, so that future generations can continue to enjoy the Bay’s many benefits.”

Also present at the unveiling was Chesapeake Bay Trust Director of Communications and Development Molly Alton. “The Chesapeake Bay Trust is pleased to partner with the Bowie Baysox and link together two great Maryland passions: baseball and the Bay,” said Mullins. “We look forward to working with the Baysox during the 2011 season and appreciate their commitment to our work to fund great projects and programs to restore the Chesapeake Bay.”

Approximately 500 people attended the Family FunFest on Saturday and noshed on ballpark fare, rode the carousel, hula hooped, and visited with several vendors on the concourse. But for the little kids, the big hit was the Tumble Bus parked just outside of the gate!

And of course for the baseball fans, it was the day to either pick up or buy tickets for the upcoming season!

Are you headed to see the Baysox this summer? Eye On Annapolis will be covering the games and will be having some fun with the photos we take–will we catch you?

If you would like to buy a single ticket, a mini-plan, or an entire season full of great AA Orioles baseball, please visit the ticket page on the website.

See you at the park!
