
The public can attend the 5th annual Maryland Senior Idol Contest, a competition of vocalists from at least nine counties in the State. The two Anne Arundel County representatives at the event are Betty Roesler of Severn, who will sing “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” and Shirley Valencia of Brooklyn Park, who will sing “The Way We Were.”
The contest will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Chesapeake Arts Center, 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park. Tickets are $6 at the door; they also are available at the seven county senior activity centers operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Proceeds will benefit the Maryland Food Bank. The contest is organized by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks – Senior Division.
