12th Annual Funfest

| March 03, 2011, 06:03 PM | 0 Comments

The Bowie Baysox announce the 12th annual Free Family FunFest presented by the Pennysaver at Prince George’s Stadium Saturday, March 26, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  The event occurs rain or shine and features free rides and games in Louie’s Kids Park, inflatables, music and games on the concourse and displays from local business and organizations.

Single game tickets for the Baysox 2011 season go on sale for the first time at FunFest and the box office is open throughout the day.  Season ticket holders can pick up their ticket plans at the event and are invited to an exclusive season ticket holders’ luncheon in the Diamond View Restaurant.

Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser works hard planning the event.  “Every year our fans have a great time at FunFest,” Kaiser said.  “And every year we try to add a couple new events and displays to make the event more interesting for them.  We host FunFest every March to unofficially kick off the season, and I think fans will agree this is one of the best FunFests yet.”

Throughout the event, fans can hang out with the Baysox lovable mascot Louie, his pal the Oriole Bird, other mascot buddies and “Dora.”  Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department will have vehicles on display in the parking lot and a booth setup on the concourse.  The Bowie Police Department has activities planned for kids, and fans can look forward to a face painter from Kreative Kharacters.

Baysox Community Programs Manager Dana DeFilippo is helping Louie get ready for FunFest.  “Louie is very excited to see all of his friends in Louie’s Kids Club,” DeFilippo said.  “We all have so much fun at the stadium! I hope everyone can make it to all our Kids Club events this year, starting with the Spring Fling on Sunday, April 17.”

Louie’s Kids Club is free and easy to join.  Any fan ages three to 12 can join the club at FunFest, at www.baysox.com or at any Baysox home game.  The team hosts an exclusive kids club event each month of the season, and members receive a free gift at a future Baysox game, limit one per child per season.  This year’s gift is a black and orange mesh back drawstring backpack featuring the Baysox logo.

Baysox Baseball – We’ll Knock Your Sox Off. The Baysox open their 19th season as the class Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles on the road in Harrisburg Thursday, April 7.  They play their first game at Prince George’s Stadium Thursday, April 14, at 7:05 p.m.  Baysox ticket packages are now available at www.baysox.com.
