UPDATE 09:06 pm 02/18/2011: Reader, Paul Baylor shot this video as he was driving along Eastbound Route 100.  It was before most of the fire equipment was on the scene.

Another reader, Matt, sent this photo in of the fire before it got out of control.

UPDATE 04:31 pm 02/18/2011: From SHA, three lanes and shoulder of westbound Rt 100 are closed between I-97 and MD 170.  Also, both the north and southbound ramps from I-97 onto MD 100 are closed. This fire has also escalated to 4 alarms.

Fire crews are working on a major brush fire in the area of westbound MD 100 and I-97 in Severn.  The fire has escalated to 3 alarms and Anne Arundel has called in Mutual aid from Baltimore City, BWI, Baltimore County, Howard County, and Ft. Meade to battle the blaze.

Propane tanks at a local business are a concern as a possible exposure.

Thanks for reporting on this. No one else seems to really care to let us know. In the day and age of the internet, this should be instant info, just like you gave! Thanks John

The guy driving and filming is a greater risk to society than this fire is. Glad I wasn’t on the road that day. Hope everybody else who was on that road survived this idiot!
