Packages ‘Flare Up’ At Two MD State Buildings In Anne Arundel. State and federal officials are investigating small incendiary devices that “flared up” at the Maryland Department of Transportation’s headquarters in Hanover and a state government building in Annapolis on Thursday. Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley said two packages flared up, one at the Jeffrey Public Safety Building on Francis Street in Annapolis at about 12:30 p.m. and one at the MDOT building about 20 minutes later. Firefighters and hazmat crews were called to investigate. Shipley said during a news conference that a small fire, smoke and a strange sulfur smell started coming out of the packages when they were opened.

Naval Academy Investigates Suspicious Package. Officials at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis are investigating a suspicious package.The package was found just before 10 p.m. in a mail room.A spokesman confirmed the area is unoccupied, so it’s not being evacuated.

Police: Crofton Man Videotaped People Nude, Stole Underwear. A Crofton man has been charged with burglary and stealing women’s undergarments, and he may also face charges that he illegally filmed people in their homes without their knowledge.Charles Dean Novak, 35, was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary, destruction of property, theft and rogue and vagabond.

Former Gym Teacher Faces Child Porn Charges In Anne Arundel.  A former physical education teacher in Anne Arundel County has been charged with distribution and possession of child pornography.Gregory Alan Christy, 39, was charged this week, Anne Arundel County police said Thursday morning.The investigation started last April, with the execution of a search warrant on Timberfield Place.”A search warrant was executed at the residence, and several computers were confiscated,” police said in a news release. “The examination revealed numerous images of child pornography.”Police said the children were known victims in other jurisdictions.Christy has been an employee of the Anne Arundel County Public School System since 1996.
