3 Alarm Blaze Damages Edgewater Restaurant.  Anne Arundel County firefighters battled a blaze Friday morning at a German-American restaurant.The fire occurred at about 5:40 a.m. at a building housing the Old Stein Inn on Mayo Road.The blaze eventually went to three alarms as firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames.No injuries were reported.The restaurant’s website said the business was opened in 1983 by a couple from Germany.

Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs To $290 Million. The Mega Millions jackpot is now at $290 million after the big prize went unclaimed Friday night.The winning numbers Friday were 10, 12, 13, 35, 56, and the Mega Ball was 9. The multi-state game is played in 41 states and the District of Columbia.In March 2007, the jackpot grew to a record $390 million before it was won.Mega Millions drawings air on WBAL-TV 11 at 11:22 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday.

Ravens Hang In For Close Win Over Bengals. As they prepare for their third straight trip to the playoffs, the Baltimore Ravens will have to settle for momentum instead of a first-round bye. Ed Reed had two interceptions and Ray Lewis recovered two fumbles, part of an opportunistic defense that carried the Ravens over the Cincinnati Bengals 13-7 Sunday. Despite the victory, the Ravens (12-4) failed to get the help necessary to win the AFC North. Baltimore needed Pittsburgh to lose to Cleveland, but the Steelers won 41-9 to make the Ravens a wild-card entrant.

Terps Hire Former UConn Coach To Replace Friedgen. Randy Edsall, who spent the last 12 years taking the University of Connecticut from Division I-AA status (now FCS) to five bowl games, including a BCS contest, has been named Maryland’s head football coach, director of athletics Kevin Anderson announced Sunday evening.Edsall, who will be introduced Monday during a news conference, guided the Huskies to a pair of Big East Conference titles (2007, 2010) and postseason appearances in each of the last four seasons, including the 2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
