Another Pedestrian Struck In Gen Burnie

UPDATE 7:57 am 01/15/2011: From the Anne Arundel County Police Department:

On January 14, 2011 at approximately 1932 hours, officers from the Northern District responded to assist the Maryland Transit Police with a report of a pedestrian struck at 7390 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd Glen Burnie, Maryland (Anne Arundel County) in front of the Cromwell Light Rail Station. Officers arrived on scene and found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with non life threatening injuries.

The initial investigation revealed the pedestrian identified as, Enid Choloh Dukule (Maryland Transit Employee) was crossing Baltimore Annapolis Blvd in a dark area while wearing dark clothing and was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. Mrs. Dukule was in a designated crosswalk, however was crossing against the Don’t Walk pedestrian signals.

Personnel from Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedic 31 transported Mrs. Dukule to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit where she remained in critical condition.

The investigation indicated that pedestrian error is the primary cause of the crash. The striking vehicle did not remain on the scene and is believed to be a Sports Utility Vehicle (Unknown Make)

The Traffic Safety Section was contacted at approximately 2200 hours and advised that Mrs. Dukule injuries were now being listed as life threatening.

Yet another pedestrian has been struck in Anne Arundel County. Fire and EMS crews are on the scene of an accident at 7378 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard with a Priority 1 (life threatening) head injury.
