Snowden May Not Be Off The Hook

Carl Snowden
Snowden may be headed back to court

Back on June 8, 2010, we reported that Carl Snowden was arrested for his third DUI offense. Snowden currently works in Attorney General Doug Gansler’s office as a Civil Rights Director. The former Annapolis City Alderman, aide to County Executive Janet Owens and community activist also sits on the Board of the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA).

In October, he was scheduled for a trial on his arrest but prayed for a jury trial at the last minute. On Friday, November 19th, when the area was watching the Bear-Bear trial, Snowden arranged an “impromptu” hearing in Circuit Court where inexplicably, he was let off the hook yet again with a Probation Before Judgment (PBJ) sentence.

But not so fast. As Eric Hartley of The Capital reported, it seems that the judge, the defense attorney, and the prosecuting attorney were all unaware of the law that prohibits a PBJ sentence when there are priors in the past 8 years! This certainly does not speak well for the Circuit Court when the presiding judges are unaware of the laws which they are charged with interpreting.

Now, WBFF, Fox 45 is reporting that Snowden is headed back to court to face the music.
