Candidate Close-up: Martin O’Malley.  Four years ago, Gov. Martin O’Malley moved into the governor’s mansion while riding, in part, a tide of anti-President George Bush sentiment.With current President Barack Obama’s low approval rating, some are wondering if that will affect him this time around, 11 News reporter Deborah Weiner said.At a recent rally, O’Malley appeared confident and buoyed by his supporters, Weiner reported, but he still admitted that he is in a tough race for re-election.

Delegate McConkey To Lose Real Estate License. A Maryland state delegate on Monday struck a deal instead of fighting a state commission challenging his license to sell real estate.Under the settlement, the state will not revoke Delegate Tony McConkey’s real estate license, but the license is suspended for a year.McConkey, R-Anne Arundel County, said he made mistakes, but a four-year battle is finally behind him. He called the settlement with the Maryland Real Estate Commission a victory.

Poll: Voters Favor Mall Slots. A new Baltimore Sun poll indicates it’s a close call on slots at Arundel Mills Mall and that the vote could go either way.The survey showed that 47 percent of Anne Arundel County voters support Question A, 45 percent oppose it and 8 percent are undecided. The margin of error was 5 points. If Question A is approved, it will allow slots zoning near Arundel Mills Mall and let David Cordish develop a casino next to it.

Gas Prices Up, But Expected To Level Off. The average price of regular gas in the U.S. jumped more than 5 cents in the past two weeks, according to a new survey, but in Maryland, the higher prices are expected to level off.The Lundberg Survey of fuel prices said the national average price of a gallon of regular gas is currently $2.82.
