Police: Man Leaning Out Of Car Killed In Crash. Police said a 19-year-old man leaning out of a moving car died Monday after the vehicle swiped a telephone pole.The victim was identified as David Yamamoto Hepner. The crash occurred just after 5:40 p.m. on Governor Bridge Road near Patuxent River Road in Davidsonville. Anne Arundel County police said the vehicle was traveling east on Governor Bridge Road when its occupants — a driver and two passengers — saw friends on the side of the road and yelled and waved at them.Hepner was “hanging out the window from his waist up” when the vehicle swiped the pole, causing Hepner to hit the pole, police said.

Court Approves Emergency Rules On Foreclosures.  An emergency measure approved Tuesday clarifies what methods state courts can use to review the paperwork behind foreclosures, including bringing in attorneys to explain questionable documents and hiring outside experts to examine them at a bank’s expense. The measure approved by the state’s highest court spells out how state judges can review foreclosures and stop them if the documents are found to be invalid. However, it’s still up to individual judges to decide how to use the tools.

Board To Consider Buying 6 Medevac Helicopters. The Board of Public Works is scheduled to consider approving a $72 million contract to buy six Medevac helicopters to begin replacing an aging fleet.The board was set to take up the contract with Agusta Aerospace Corp. at Wednesday’s meeting.The contract includes an option to buy up to six additional helicopters between July 2011 and July 2013.

Race For Governor Tightens Between O’Malley And Ehrlich.  A new poll shows Republican challenger Bob Ehrlich is closing the gap between himself and Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley in the race for Maryland’s top job.According to Gonzales Research Marketing, O’Malley currently has a 5 point advantage over Ehrlich.The poll found that 47 percent of likely voters would cast a ballot for O’Malley, 42 percent for Ehrlich; with the rest of the votes going either to a third party candidate or falling in the “undecided” column.The poll also found that 85 percent of African-Americans approve of O’Malley’s job performance.
