Psychologist To Address Issues For Parents, Teens In Lecture At Severna Park High School

Psychologist Carol Maxym will address the pressures facing teenagers today and the ways parents, adolescents, and their families can address the challenges they present at a lecture at Severna Park High School on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.

The lecture is being sponsored by the Students Taking Actions Responsibly, or STAR program at the school. Dr. Maxym, who delivered a highly popular similar address at the school last year, is the author of “Teens In Turmoil: A Path To Change for Parents, Adolescents, and Their Families.” A mother and grandmother, she has worked with teens and their families formore than a dozen years.

Parents who would particularly benefit from the lecture include those who have:

● excused, rationalized, or justified their teen’s behavior.
● been forced to compromise work duties to take care of a teen.
● felt afraid of, and for, a teen.
● had their daily life disrupted by a teen’s behavior.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Severna Park High School, 60 Robinson Road. A partnership with the school’s PTSO, the STAR program is designed to promote a positive
and healthy learning environment for our school community.
