Plan B C D E For Slot Opponents

Here we go. As numerous polls indicate that the No Slots At The Mall  initiative is losing ground and that the man accused of stealing the pro-slots signs may have a connection to the effort, the group is positioning themselves to challenge the outcome of the election (if necessary) once again.

In 2008, the state, the county, and the districts surrounding Lauren and Arundel Mills overwhelmingly approved slot machines. But once the deal was sealed, the NIMBYs came out of the woodwork to oppose the development near Arundel Mills mall.  Not to be outdone, there are now NIMBYs in Laurel who are opposing slots in their neighborhoods as well.

According to The Baltimore Sun, No Slots At The Mall has now asked Maryland’s Attorney General Dough Gansler to look into David Cordish (developer for the slots) for election fraud.  Cordish has solicited the support of the local business community and asked for their support. He has also sought out local business leaders to serve on a committee to help steer the development and operation.

You can read the details in The Sun, but it seems the writing is on the wall–the NIMBYs (backed by the Penn National Corporation) will be contesting the results of the election.
