County Volleyball Teams To Take Part In Dig Pink Campaign

High school volleyball matches across Anne Arundel County on Monday, October 18, will have a distinctly pink flair as players don pink uniforms and compete with pink volleyballs in support of the second annual Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally.
“Last year’s Dig Pink event really opened a lot of eyes to the seriousness of Breast Cancer,” Northeast High School coach Steve Gorrick said. “The girls really took ownership of hosting the event, which you could see evolved into productive conversations among family, friends, and classmates.”
In addition to entertaining volleyball matchups, special events have been planned by host teams to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation, which awards grants to medical research organizations that support breast cancer patients and their families. Examples of some special events include bake sales with pink lemonade and other pink items, as well as entertainment from cheerleaders and dance teams.
Attendees are encouraged to show their support by wearing pink.
The following matches are on the October 18 schedule:
● Meade at Southern, 5:00 p.m.
● Chesapeake at Glen Burnie, 5:00 p.m.
● North County at Broadneck, 5:30 p.m.
● Severna Park at Arundel, 6:00 p.m.
● South River at Annapolis, 6:00 p.m.
● Northeast at Old Mill, 6:00 p.m.
