The Comcast Foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County to support its “Club Tech” program.  Club Tech is a comprehensive digital literacy program providing club members ages five through eighteen with computer training and other technology skills necessary for school and workplace success.

“We are grateful to Comcast for its generous contribution,” said Reginald Broddie, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County.  “The grant from The Comcast Foundation will help us provide our young members a pathway to educational and career opportunities in a digital world.”

“Comcast is committed to partnering with local organizations to strengthen the communities that we serve,” said Fred Graffam, regional senior vice president for Comcast.  “We are proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County in its efforts to make a real and meaningful difference in our local communities.”

The Club Tech program was launched in September 2010.  Club Tech teaches participants basic computing skills, including Web safety practices and the use of various software programs through hands-on activities and instructor-led workshops.  Participants also study the digital arts, including Web and graphic design, digital photography and more, and are provided an opportunity to participate in a Digital Arts Festival and local, regional and national competitions, allowing them a forum to showcase what they have learned throughout the curriculum.  Additionally, participants will work with local media, law enforcement, an educational support team and local business partners to use the digital arts in improving their neighborhoods and the surrounding community.
