A man was arrested at the Severna Park headquarters of Jobs & Revenue For Anne Arundel County early this morning. He was in the process of destroying Vote for Question A campaign signs.

“For a month we have seen the escalation of this organized campaign to remove our message from the County’s roadways,” said Campaign Manager Todd Lamb.  “Their premeditated actions have included the use of box cutters and chainsaws on our large wooden-framed signs as well as completely removing smaller yard signs and dumping them in piles around the County. Most of these signs have police, fire and teacher logos on them – so this is as disturbing as it is illegal.”

The man is currently being held at Anne Arundel County’s Eastern District station. When arrested, his truck contained doxens of stolen Question A campaign signs.

The Jobs & Revenue For Anne Arundel County campaign filed a police report on October 18  following a weekend where more than 400 signs were vandalized or stolen. An additional 300 signs were stolen or destroyed last week leading up to the arrest.

“We are calling on the No Slots campaign and their funders from Penn National to tell their staff and supporters to immediately stop engaging in this illegal activity,” said Lamb. “They have been so blatant in their actions, that they even took a Question A sign from a police officer’s front yard.”

David Corrigan of Glen Burnie. Arrested for stealing and vandalizing political signs belonging to the Jobs & revenue Corporation.

From the County Police Department press release:

On October 23, 2010, at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers were patrolling the Route 2 corridor in response to recent thefts of campaign and political signs. Two officers noticed that a sign posted at the intersection of Route 2 south and Route 10 was missing after having been there just a few moments earlier. Consequently, the officers began looking for a possible suspect in the area.

A short time later, an officer observed a male suspect knock over a sign and begin cutting down a second sign at the intersection of Route 2 south and Earleigh Heights Road. At that time, the officer approached the suspect, who was dressed with a construction style hat and a safety vest. Through investigation, the suspect acknowledged being responsible for the destruction and theft of the sign that was the property of the Jobs & Revenue Corporation. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had an additional 70 signs in his vehicle. All of the signs were determined to be the property of the Jobs & Revenue Corporation. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with Theft Over $1,000 and Under $10,000 and Malicious Destruction of Property. At this time, the investigation is ongoing and detectives are looking into the possibility that the suspect may be linked to other thefts of campaign signs throughout the county.

Suspect: David S. Corrigan, 50, of 125 Foxtrap Drive, Glen Burnie MD
