St. Martin’s Pumpkin Patch

The annual Annapolis Pumpkin Patch will be held October 9-31 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.  Attracting hundreds of local families and school groups, the nearly month-long event features pumpkins, live entertainment, crafts and activities, baked goods, local handicrafts and more.

The opening day, October 9, will be a fall celebration featuring face painting, live music, refreshments and children’s activities.

2009 Pumpkin Patch

This year is the 9th year for the Annapolis tradition and the event will have more activities and entertainment than ever before.  Each weekend, the Pumpkin Patch will feature live entertainment from a variety of area musicians, including youth bands and rock, jazz and funk bands.  Additionally, the event will feature tempting refreshments, children’s crafts and games, face painting, fun fall merchandise and local handicrafts.

Admission and entertainment is free, and pumpkins are priced according to size. Donations from our Pumpkin Patch sponsors allow 100% of profits to go directly to serving the Light House residents.

Sponsors include:  St. Martins Lutheran Church of Annapolis; Absolute Party Rental and Supply, Inc.; Wee Lad & Lassie Early Learning Center; Dr. Phil Philbin, Orthodonist; Dr. Collins and Associates Pediatric Dentistry; and i2 – Innovation Intelligence.

Additional donors include: Crystalooneys Creative Arts; Residential Dumpster Service, Inc.; Bowen’s Farm Supply, Inc.; Safeway; Giant; and Whole Foods Market.

The Light House, a homeless prevention and support center, has been helping our most fragile Anne Arundel County citizens for nearly two decades.  Last year, the Light House provided over 6,000 nights of shelter to eligible individuals and families. Tragically, over 300 eligible adults and over 150 children were denied shelter because of lack of beds.

This year, we are excited to open a new center, which will allow the Light House to serve an estimated 1,500 people per year and provide more programs for homeless people, including financial literacy workshops, job training, legal counseling, and employment referrals.

Of those helped at the Light House, 75% leave empowered with a place to live, a job, and the ability to lead self-sufficient lives. It is the mission of the Light House to rebuild lives with service and compassion by providing shelter, preventing homelessness and empowering people as they move toward independence.
