2 Alarm West River Fire Destroys Home. Anne Arundel County fire officials said a two-alarm fire destroyed a house Sunday night in the West River area.Fire officials said the fire started at about 8 p.m. in the 4900 block of Chalk Point Road, and it took firefighters 90 minutes to get the blaze under control. Fire officials said they used a fire boat to provide water to help put out the blaze.The two occupants of the house were able to escape without injury, according to fire officials, who said the fire is under investigation. Man Drowns After Falling Off Pier At Coconut Joe’s In Edgewater. Anne Arundel County fire officials said a man drowned early Monday morning in Edgewater.Fire officials said they received a call at about midnight for a man who fell off a pier at Coconut Joe’s on South River Road.Dive units found the man under the pier about an hour later, according to fire officials.The victim’s identity has not been released.

Water Pipe Break Closes Three Anne Arundel Schools. Three schools will be closed Monday to students and staff because of a ruptured pipe in a water supply line.Chesapeake High School, Chesapeake Bay Middle School and Folger McKinsey Elementary School at Chesapeake Bay Middle School will be closed, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools Information Officer Bob Mosier.The rupture in the pipe has been repaired, but there will not be sufficient water levels in the tower that feeds the three schools to hold classes Monday, Mosier said.Classes will resume Tuesday.

Flacco Throws Game Away In Cincinnati.  Five field goals were enough to extend the Bengals’ domination of the AFC North. Mike Nugent made a career-high five kicks, two of them in the closing minutes Sunday, and Cincinnati’s up-to-the-challenge defense made it hold up for a 15-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Cincinnati (1-1) won the division last season by running the table, going 6-0 for the first time in franchise history. Its new kicker extended its streak of division wins to a club-record eight straight.
