Market House & City Dock Presentation
UPDATE: The entire presentation is online. (Go to the “City Council Work Session” category and click on “Market House Update Sept 16”). However, from our computer there appears to be no sound, just a lot of mouths moving with nothing actually being said. The interface has a separate volume control in the lower right corner of the interface; slide it to the right to increase the volume.
Eye On Annapolis was unable to be at this evening’s meeting to discuss the status of the Market House and the revitalization of City Dock. The meeting was broadcast on the City’s television station and we were able to obtain a copy of the presentation which we are presenting here as a video. Each slide is 15 seconds long, but feel free to pause as needed.
From this presentation, it is obvious that there has been little progress. Just last week, The Capital alluded that Lehr-Jackson was planning to have occupancy by the October boat shows. According to this presentation, there are more committees and hemming and hawing to be done before anything moves on. We have heard that Lehr-Jackson’s proposal is contingent on being able to sell beer and wine at the Market House. This presentation indicates that alcohol is prohibited by City Charter. Will this be a deal killer?
What about the Sustainable Business Alliance who is now calling for a halt to all negotiations and looking to start over with their hand picked consultant? Is there a lawsuit in the works against the City from this group?
What are your thoughts on the Market House? Please leave a comment!

Let me get this straight, A bank belongs in a Market House but the rules forbid Beer ? This is what makes Annapolis the “Special” town we all love to ridicule.
The broadcast of last night’s meeting on the Market House is available online on the City’s website (approx. 1 hour, 45 minutes).

To clarify: As part of the City’s presentation, the Mayor and Doug Smith announced that the City will be forming an advisory committee on City Dock redevelopment. No advisory committee was announced for Market House.
We encourage you to check out the video.

Let’s hope this is not the beginning of the end with of a death by a thousand cuts for the Markethouse.
Jackson has the expertise, money and passion for this project – does the City at large have the same passion or do they just want to play cat and mouse with the Markethouse for another decade of failed business & missed opportunity ?
Who among the critics & neighborhood political purveyors have ever even come close to running this sort of operation ?
Phillllllll, could you put together a transcipt please, many of us are voracious readers and prefer the written word so we can get to the meat of the matter and skim over the pleasantries and superflous information, I thank you in advance for you time and consideration in the matter.
respectfully,
