$95K Rotary Scholarships Available

Rotary District 7620, which includes most of Maryland and Washington, D.C., is pleased to call for applications for three types of scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.

1. Ambassador Scholarship for $25,000 to serve as Rotary ambassador abroad and pursue a graduate school program in an area that may lead to public service in health, education, community development and world peace.

2. Future Vision Scholarship for $30,000 minimum to pursue a graduate school program and support a Rotary project in an underdeveloped country abroad in one or more areas including Peace and Conflict Resolution, Maternal and Child Health, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Basic Education and Literacy, Water and Sanitation, and Economic and Community Development.

The original and electronic copy of completed applications for Ambassador and Future Vision Scholarships should be submitted in October 2010 to a Rotary club in District 7620, whose contact information may be found with application forms, motivation and instructions for these programs on the web site http://www.rotary7620.org/ . After review and interview, prioritized applications will be submitted by each club to the District 7620 Scholarship Chair by Dec. 1, 2010. These applications will be reviewed and candidates interviewed in January 2011 to select the winning Scholars.

3. District 7620 Scholarship with 10 awards of $4,000 each for students in their junior or senior years enrolled in a college, university or technical school in District 7620 and residing in District 7620. The original and electronic copies of completed District 7620 Scholarship applications from the above web site are due to clubs in February 2011. Scholar applications will be reviewed and prioritized by each club, and submitted by 1 April to District 7620 as described on the web site above. These applications will be reviewed and candidates interviewed in May 2011 to select the winning Scholars.
