Sometimes, the simplest answers are elusive.  The Anne Arundel County Police released an update on the suspicious death yesterday in Harmans.

On August 26, 2010, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the unit block of Lexington Road in Harmans for a report of a death.

Upon arrival, officers located a 47-year-old female victim inside of the residence. The victim was located by her juvenile son, who contacted police. Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene to assume responsibility for the investigation. The cause and manner of death has not been determined and the incident remains under investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives have developed a person of interest in the case.

UPDATE:

The Anne Arundel County Police Department became aware of a fatal crash that took place yesterday morning in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The vehicle and victim involved in that crash were determined to be connected to the suspicious death investigation; however, all questions related to that incident, including the release of the victim’s name, should be directed to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Through further investigation into the suspicious death, it was determined that the victim, Diana Lynn Patten, 47, of 6 Lexington Road in Harmans, suffered apparent trauma to the upper body. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to be performed. The autopsy was conducted and the cause of death was ruled as asphyxiation with the manner being homicide.
