Police Probe Machete Attack In OdentonAnne Arundel County police are investigating after a 23-year-old man told them he was assaulted by four men, one of whom cut him with a machete.The man told authorities he had been stabbed early Thursday at the My Place Bar and Lounge in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road.The man said he left the bar after having an altercation with someone inside and was later assaulted by four black men. Officers and an aviation unit canvassed the area but were unable to locate the culprits.

Police Find Stolen Credit Cards During Glen Burnie Traffic Stop.   Anne Arundel County police said they arrested three men and recovered more than 75 stolen credit cards during a routine traffic stop in Glen Burnie last week. Police said they saw a suspicious vehicle illegally parked outside a 7-Eleven store near Quarterfield Road and Old Stage Road at about 2 a.m. Friday and decided to speak with the occupants.Police said the driver allowed them to search the car, where they found drug paraphernalia, more than 75 credit cards in various names, fraudulent driver’s licenses, various gift cards and recently purchased high-dollar merchandise.

Pedestrians Warned Of Aggressive Driving.   Local police are putting their focus on aggressive driving and showing people how it endangers the lives of pedestrians in Maryland cities.Police said the yearly Smooth Operator campaign is an effort to battle the No. 1 danger facing motorists and pedestrians — speeding.The intersection of Pratt and Howard streets in Baltimore is just one of the corners where too many pedestrians are injured by aggressive drivers, police said.”A significant number of the fatalities occurred not on major highways or interstates but right here in Baltimore,” said Vernon Betkey of the State Highway Administration.

Vets Discriminated Against Over PTSD.  Some Marylanders have said there’s invisible discrimination over post traumatic stress disorder that may be keeping veterans — even those who don’t have the illness — from getting hired.PTSD is an emotional illness that can follow combat duty or any life-threatening event.Richard Day calls himself mentally wounded after having lived with PTSD for nearly 30 years.”I’ve had a panic attack on a bus, and people are trying to talk to me and I can’t relate to them because I feel I am trying to keep myself alive,” Day said.

Ending weeks of silence and drama, the two-time MVP said on his ESPN special from Greenwich, Conn. on Thursday night that he’s decided to join the Miami Heat and leave the Cleveland Cavaliers after an unsuccessful seven-year quest for the championship he covets.
