Police: Woman Abducted Yesterday, Found Safe.  Police in Anne Arundel County say they have found a kidnapping victim who was taken during a home invasion early Monday morning, and they’ve arrested the prime suspect in the case.Police were called to a home in the 7700 block of Pinyon Road in Hanover shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a home invasion. Detectives said four people were living at the residence at the time, including the victim, Sherry Anne Lane, 26. One of the residents told police that he let a man into the home because he thought he was Lane’s friend. The man said he went downstairs, but then heard three people demanding to know where Lane was.

Annapolis Man, 63, Dies After Jet Ski Accident.  A 63-year-old man died in a Jet Ski accident that occurred not far from the Bay Bridge during Sunday’s fierce thunderstorms.Warren Douglas Smith, of Annapolis, died in the incident, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.DNR police officials said Smith and Elmer Sappington, 65, of Severn, were riding Jet Skis when they encountered winds of about 60 mph — with waves about 5 to 6 feet high — produced by a line of storms.Both men tried to get back to Sandy Point State Park as the storm intensified. Sappington found Smith lying face down in the water, picked him up and flagged down a passing tug boat.

NSA Project To Bring Thousands To Ft. Meade.  A draft environmental impact statement said that a project by the National Security Agency will bring 6,500 workers to the Fort Meade area, challenging the area’s infrastructure. The NSA statement said the planned expansion will cost at least $2 billion.The project, called Site M, will include a 1.8 million-square-foot building on land at Fort Meade that is currently used by two golf courses. While local officials said they are excited about the job growth and benefits to the local economy, they are also worried whether the county can accommodate the growth.Roads, schools and other infrastructure could become congested, and Anne Arundel County officials said it does not have money for major projects.

Poll: Governor In Close Race With GOP Challenger.  A new poll says Maryland Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley is in a very close race with Republican Robert Ehrlich. Read More About The Poll’s Findings. The poll released Tuesday by Gonzales Research & Marketing Strategies finds O’Malley ahead of his predecessor by 3 percentage points, which is within the poll’s margin of error.O’Malley led 45 percent to Ehrlich’s 42 percent in the survey, which has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
