2 Arrested In 2006 Killing Of Glen Burnie DentistAnne Arundel County police have arrested and indicted two people in the 2006 killing of a Glen Burnie dentist.Albert Woonho Ro, 51, was found slain in his office on Crain Highway in September 2006 after police checked on him because his wife was worried that he hadn’t returned home. A medical examiner said he died of blunt force trauma.Shontay Joyner-Hickman, 35, of Baltimore, was arrested Monday and charged in the indictment with first-degree murder, manslaughter, burglary and robbery, among other things. Police said Joyner-Hickman was an employee of Ro’s when he was killed.Police also arrested Dante Jeter, 23, and charged him with the same offenses. He’s currently being held in Baltimore on murder charges in another case.

MD Lottery Surprises Mother With $1M Prize. Maryland Lottery officials surprised a local resident with $1 million on Tuesday morning.Paula Evans, a single mother of three living in Landover, said she was asked by lottery officials to come down to lottery headquarters Tuesday morning.Officials told her she was a finalist in the running for a million-dollar prize in the Ultimate Payday Game, but when she arrived, she found out she was the winner.

O’Malley Proposes To Waive $86 AP Exam Fee For Students.  Gov. Martin O’Malley said Tuesday that he wants to waive the $86 fee per subject for Advanced Placement tests in Maryland. The proposal is part of an initiative O’Malley made public on Tuesday called “AP Access and Success.” O’Malley is proposing that the state direct $3 million of education funds to cover the cost of AP exams for all students. High school students can earn college credit if they score high enough on the exam.

Marylanders React To Steinbrenner’s Death.  George Steinbrenner, who rebuilt the New York Yankees into a sports empire with a mix of bluster and big bucks that polarized fans all across America, died Tuesday. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday July 4.  Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos released the following statement Tuesday morning: “The Orioles are saddened to learn of the passing of George Steinbrenner. As an active participant in the organizational direction and operations of the New York Yankees, his name is as synonymous with that franchise as any of the legendary athletes who have played in pinstripes. On behalf of the Orioles organization, I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, Joan, and the members of his family.”
