Muddy Political Water

Contrary to an erroneous post on a local blog, local activist and former City Council candidate Scott Bowling is not running for County Council.

Bowling has indeed filed the proper paperwork to be listed on the primary ballot for the  Republican Central Committee for District 30. Previously, Bowling had expressed an interest in running for County Council, but decided against it.  In an email sent this morning, Bowling clarified:

I have neither paid the $25 required filing fee, nor submitted the required paperwork to place my name on the ballot for County Council.  I am not in this race, nor do I intend to file by the deadline at 9:00PM this evening.

Along with the email was a copy of his filing for the Republican Central Committee.

So, it appears that for the Annapolis area County Council seat (district 6), there will be two Democrats (Chuck Ferrar and Chris Trumbauer) vying for the spot in the General Election and no Republican challenger unless a last minute candidate files tonight or the Central Committee decides to name a candidate in the upcoming weeks.
