Homicide In Glen Burnie

UPDATE 08:03PM July 3, 2010: From Anne Arundel County Police:

Upon completion of the autopsy, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death was head trauma and the manner was homicide. An arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect and on July 3, 2010, at approximately 4:45 p.m., patrol officers and detectives from Homicide Unit arrested the suspect, Ryan Richard Hynson, 25, of 417 Magnolia Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland, without incident at his residence. After conferring with the State’s Attorney’s Office, Ryan Hynson will be charged with Manslaughter, 2nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

An altercation led to the death of a 23 year old man early this morning in the 900 block of Princeton Terrace in Glen Burnie. From the Anne Arundel County police report:

On July 3, 2010, at approximately 2:43 a.m., officers from Northern District responded to the 900 block of Princeton Terrace in Glen Burnie for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male victim lying in the roadway. The victim, identified as Robert Raeke, 23, of the 900 block of Shamrock Court in Glen Burnie, Maryland, was suffering from apparent head injuries. Officers immediately conducted first aid on the victim until the arrival of fire department personnel. The victim was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he eventually died from his injuries.

Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to initiate an investigation. Several witnesses were interviewed and detectives identified a possible suspect in the case. Initial investigation indicates that the victim and suspect, who are known to each other, were at a party in the 900 block of Princeton Terrace. The suspect was allegedly assaulted in the street by the victim, who was then punched by the suspect. Consequently, the victim fell to the ground and struck his head. At this time, this case remains under investigation pending a review by the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office and the results of the autopsy being conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
