Police: Drunk Driver Hits Officer’s Car. An Edgewater man was charged with DUI and several traffic offenses after police said he slammed into a parked police cruiser, pinning the officer between his vehicle and another vehicle.Brian J. Lee, 22, was arrested after the Monday morning incident.An officer investigating a reported burglary stopped a vehicle at about 1:25 a.m. in the 1500 block of Stuart Road.While the officer was searching the vehicle, Lee’s car hit the rear of the officer’s vehicle, police said.

New Law Scraps 90 Day Waiting Period For GED.  A new state law is making it easier for recent high school dropouts to get their General Education Diplomas, or GED.The law closes what used to be a 90-day state waiting period and could help even more dropouts go back to school.State Sen. Catherine Pugh, D-Baltimore city, sponsored the bill.”At least this way, we can either get them to take the GED or get them into a GED training program. They couldn’t even get into a training program before, so it just made more sense to me,” she said.

Plans For Baltimore Grand Prix To Be Announced.  Organizers for the Baltimore Grand Prix will be releasing final details about next year’s contest on city streets.Baltimore Racing Development and the IZOD IndyCar Series have scheduled a news conference Wednesday to announce final plans for the race.Gov. Martin O’Malley and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake are scheduled to attend.Baltimore officials approved a contract last month to add the Baltimore Grand Prix to the Indy Racing League’s schedule.

WV Table Games Draw Employment From Maryland. Since the gaming industry in states surrounding Maryland is looking for hundreds of new workers, many people are rethinking their careers in these tough economic times.Next month, table games such as poker, black jack, roulette and craps will be available at Charlestown, W.Va., and that has a lot of local people headed to dealer school.Charlestown Racing and Slots currently has several table games under construction, and several Marylanders are learning a new trade at a school inside the casino.
