I can’t remember the last time I paid $2 a gallon for gas or was able to fill up my gas guzzling SUV for around $50, but I did this morning.
Giant Foods has a summer long promotion with Shell gas stations to offer you a discount on each gallon of gas. The basic concept is for every $100 spent at Giant, you earn a credit of ten cents on your gas purchase. You have to swipe your Giant card before you pump your gas to get the discount. The points are only valid for 30 days, so there is some timing involved; but if you work it out, you can be driving all summer on the cheap!
This morning I filled up a near bone dry tank at the Shell station at the corner of Mayo Rd & Rt 2 (A good one to use–they need to be competitive with the ExtraMart and Wawa. The one along Riva Road near Admiral Cochrane is 20 cents higher.) and my price per gallon was reduced from $2.67 to $2.07. With 28 gallons, that was almost a $17 savings!
Thank you Giant!
At my weekend home in DE the Giant has a gas station and the prices in the Giant are much cheaper than my SP Giant. So I always fill up there on my way back home. SP Giant has it’s own weekly sale flyer and the prices are different from the Pasadena Giant.
