Another Would Be Rapist Behind Bars

Well, it seems like it has been a good day to get sex offenders off the street and into jail.  This is another sex offender arrest of a 44 year old man, Leonard Claude Dilley of Cape St. Claire,  charged with the attempted rape of a 14 year old girl.  From the Anne Arundel County Police Department:

On June 16, 2010, at approximately 2:35 a.m., a possible sex offense was reported to the Anne Arundel County Police Department. The 14-year-old female victim from Annapolis was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center to have a SAFE exam (Sexual Assault Forensics Exam) conducted by hospital personnel.

A suspect was immediately identified in the case and detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Sex Offense Squad began conducting interviews and executing search warrants. Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim and other occupants were at the suspect’s residence when the offense occurred. Witnesses stated that the suspect, who was known to the victim, was in a bedroom with the victim attempting to engage in a sexual act.

On June 26, 2010, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect charging him with Attempted Second Degree Rape. On June 27, 2010, the suspect was arrested without incident at his residence and is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on a $75,000 bond. This investigation is ongoing.
