From a police department release:
The Annapolis Police Department (APD) arrested Angel Antonio Chavarria, age 32, in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on June 21, 2010.
The victim reported she was leaving a friend’s house in Eastport on June 21, 2010 at 1:00 a.m. As she was walking on Wells Avenue she was grabbed and thrown to the ground. Once on the ground, the victim was choked and sexually assaulted, The victim was able to escape after the assault and ran to a nearby home where residents called the police. The victim was treated and released from an area hospital.
APD detectives executed a search and seizure warrant on June 26, 2010. During the search detectives recovered property belonging to the victim.
The suspect was charged with first and second degree rape, first and second degree sex offense, first and second degree assault, robbery and theft. The suspect is being held on a $1,000,000.00 bail.
