Passenger Questioned After Flight Lands At BWI. Airport officials said police are questioning a passenger who exhibited suspicious behavior during a Continental Express’ approach to BWI airport. Airport spokesman Jonathan Dean said it happened aboard Flight 2699, operated by ExpressJet Airlines, from Newark, N.J., to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Thursday about 6 p.m.Dean said the crew noticed a passenger behaving suspiciously and the captain declared a precautionary alert.

Big Box Store Moves Into Circuit City Locations.  A new retailer has moved into several of the empty Circuit City buildings around Maryland.Appliance and electronics retailer HHGregg opened six stores on Thursday afternoon, and some said it’s a sign of an economic rebound.HHGregg has been around for 55 years. The company is based in Indianapolis and is expanding east.The new stores are located in Hanover, Annapolis, Catonsville, Bel Air, Towson and Glen Burnie.

Obama Issues Disaster Declaration For Snow Storms.  President Barack Obama has issued a major disaster declaration to help Maryland recover expenses from February’s big snowstorms. The declaration on Thursday combines two separate snowstorms to trigger the release of federal money to help the state recoup money. The declaration does not say how much money the state will receive, but it begins a process to determine reimbursable expenses. A letter sent last month by Maryland’s congressional delegation noted that the state spent more than $38 million responding to the two storms.

Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Amtrak’s Acela Train. A pedestrian was hit and killed Thursday by an Amtrak Acela Express train near BWI Marshall Airport. It happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of Railroad Avenue, about three miles south of the airport station stop.Maryland Transit Administration said all service on the Penn Line was briefly suspended. Service has since been restored.Anne Arundel County fire officials said the victim was a man in his early- to mid-30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.In a prepared statement, Amtrak said Train 2153 was traveling from Boston to Washington with 153 passengers on board. There were no injuries on board the train.

Arundel Mills Walmart Employee Accused Of Theft. Police are investigating the alleged theft of $237,000 worth of tires and other merchandise from the Walmart store at Arundel Mills.Walmart security officers told police they caught the five employees in an internal investigation.The missing goods were noticed in a store inventory in March.Police said Walmart set up video surveillance equipment in the tire department and caught some of the employees in the act.
