Several Hospitalized After Ferndale Parade. Several people were apparently overcome by heat at the Ferndale Community Day in Anne Arundel County.It happened at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday following the annual Ferndale Parade that ended with a community celebration near South Broadview Boulevard and Third Avenue South.Anne Arundel Fire said three people were taken to hospitals after complaining of symptoms consistent with heat exhaustion.

Child Struck By SUV In Annapolis. Police in Annapolis said a 3-year-old child was struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon.The incident happened at about 2:15 p.m. in a driveway in the 700 block of Monterey Avenue.The child was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatrics in unknown condition.No other information about the collision was released.Police are still investigating.

Gulf Oil Spill Increasing MD Seafood Prices. If you bought seafood in Maryland within the last week, chances are you may have already been impacted by the oil spewing in the Gulf of Mexico after an oil rig collapsed last week.Industry experts said the price of shrimp, crab, oysters and fish is starting to go up. Some are even predicting that the oil spill may be one of the worst the industry has ever seen.

Immigration Controversy Hits Home In MD.  Members of the immigrant advocacy group Casa De Maryland headed to Washington, D.C., Saturday to protest Arizona’s new immigration law and the lack of progress in immigration reform.They joined thousands of protesters nationwide who called on the federal government to step in and take action against Arizona.The new law makes it a misdemeanor for illegal immigrants to live or work in Arizona.
