Fraud, Deception Alleged In Mall Slots Lawsuit.  The next battleground in the fight over a proposed slots parlor at Arundel Mills Mall is the courts, as a trial started Monday in a dispute over the proposed casino.Baltimore-based Cordish Cos. is suing the Anne Arundel County elections board, which it said overlooked fraud in a petition drive to put the issue before voters in a referendum.

Maryland AG: Ehrlich Show Not Illegal Contribution. Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler’s office has advised state elections officials not to treat a weekly radio show hosted by former Gov. Bob Ehrlich as an illegal campaign contribution.An assistant attorney general said in a letter Monday that state efforts to regulate media raise constitutional concerns. Ehrlich, a Republican, hopes to unseat Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley and return to his old job.

Man Charged With Child Porn When Memory Card Found.  A memory card left behind at a southern Maryland convenience store led to a man being arrested on child pornography charges.Scott Smallwood, 27, of Upper Marlboro, was charged with producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Monday. Authorities said he was a bus driver in the Prince George’s County school system.According to court documents, a customer at a 7-Eleven store on Coventry Way in Clinton found a microSD card on the checkout counter on March 15.The clerk said the memory card didn’t belong to him, so the customer took it home, viewed its contents and discovered several videos of a man “engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a little boy,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Pasadena Man To Challenge Ruppersberger. An accountant from Pasadena said he hopes to unseat U.S. Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger in this year’s Democratic primary.Jeff Morris, 43, said Monday that he hopes to make Ruppersberger “at least defend himself” in the Democratic primary election. Morris called himself “a conservative Democrat” and said he was inspired to run because he was tired of “mounting debt and deficits that keep coming every year.”
