Hartley: No Racism For Democrats

Capital Columnist Makes Sweeping Generalization

The Capital is usually good for a laugh or two; and yesterday, they did not disappoint. One of their columnists, Eric Hartley, penned a column about the US Naval Academy professor whose New York Times opinion caused some waves at the US Naval Academy.  While Hartley’s left leaning opinions are not a surprise to anyone who has read a few of his columns, this time he took it to an entirely different level.

Fleming has been annoying the powers that be for years. In 2005, he wrote a book, “Annapolis Autumn,” that took a critical look at academy culture. An opinion piece last year in The Capital criticized the institution’s affirmative action policies, saying they undermine the excellence upon which the academy prides itself.

That got him labeled a racist by some, though he is a registered Democrat who called his background “completely liberal.”

One has to wonder if Mr. Hartley has ever heard of David Duke:

David Ernest Duke (born July 1, 1950) is an American white nationalist, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, former Louisiana State Representative, and a candidate in the Democratic presidential primaries in 1988 and in the general election for President in 1992 as a member of the Republican Party.
