Realtors Report Mixed Bag In Local Sales. As home sales nationwide begin to rise, the Baltimore market is seeing more mixed results.Nationwide, pending home sales rose 8.2 percent in February.Despite some missteps, local realtors are staying focused on the positives.”I was surprised to see a 24 percent increase in the number of units sold from 2009 to 2010 for the month of February,” realtor Mark Simone said.He said there were several reasons for the jump locally, including more investors getting back in the game and the government’s $8,000 first time buyer tax credit.

Maryland GOP Begins Listening Tour. The Republican Party kicked off a series of town halls on Monday to survey the voters on what they want to see changed in Maryland.Democrats have a 2-to-1 advantage over Republicans in Maryland, but many Republicans 11 News spoke with on Monday said they’re feeling energized and angry.The first stop on the listening tour was in Annapolis.

Health Officials: H1N1 Still Prevalent.  Health officials warn that the H1N1 virus is still a threat but that people aren’t taking advantage of free flu shot clinics.Some of the vaccine that Maryland has expires in May and June, so the push is to use up the state’s supplies and to remind people that the flu is still out there.The state spent $150,000 on radio ads promoting the clinics.

With One Week Left, MD Legislators Only Passed 43 of 2,600 Bills. While more than 2,600 pieces of legislation have been introduced to lawmakers this legislative session, only 43 of them have passed either chamber.Many state House observers characterized the session as safe. No one wants to stir things up in an election year.With just one week to go, legislators face a lot of unfinished business and leaders in both chambers are calling for lawmakers to pick up the pace.
