The parents of the dead boy should have their frivolous lawsuit dismissed with prejudice ( of their is such a thing). I am not one of those ‘personal responsibility” neo-coniacal fascists ( I am a militant liberal) but the mother and the father are clearly the negligent party’s on the death of the slain boy.

The supervision and protection of their son on non-school property is clearly their responsibility. The dead child is dead not because of anything the school did or did not due–the parent’s ( especially the mother in this case) is solely charge with the duty to protect and supervise —any blame rests with the parents.

This death was avoidable , and the mother should accept the guilt she feels, learn from it and move on with her life.

( Fred Shubbie is NOT in anyway tring to minimize the pain felt by the parents, the death of a child, any child is a monumental tragedy

I have since read a fleshed-out version of this story . The majority of the damages are requested of the perpetrators and 200K( the max allowed) is sought from the taxpayers ( AA CO schools) . I maintain my stance with respect to naming the school board as a defendant.
