4 Accused Of Kidnapping, Torturing Teen. Two men and two women have been denied bail after being accused by police of kidnapping and torturing a 19-year-old woman.Police said the suspects followed the teen to the Executive Inn on Pulaski Highway on Sunday, where they abducted her and took her to a vacant rowhouse in Patterson Park.

Maryland’s Mo’Nique Scores Oscar Nod. Known mainly for brazen comedy routines and roles in lowbrow films, Mo’Nique startled audiences with a dark turn as a reprehensible welfare mother in “Precious.” Asked backstage if things would change for her, Mo’Nique declared, “I am a standup comedian who won an Oscar.”

Teen Paralyzed After Getting H1N1 Vaccine. A Cecil County teenager is in rehab and is paralyzed from the chest down as a result of getting the H1N1 flu vaccine at his school, according to his parents and doctor.Robert Beckham, 16, is in rehab at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, where he and his parents, Belinda and Tom, are learning to cope with his new status as a paraplegic.

Beefed Up Unemployment Bill Gains Footing.  Following weeks of uncertainty and intense negotiations, a bill beefing up the fund that hands out unemployment checks is now on the fast track in Annapolis.Nobody seems to like the legislation, but it is something the General Assembly is prepared to live with.
