2 Injured In Brooklyn FireFire officials said two people were injured Friday morning in a one-alarm house fire.The blaze occurred in the 3600 block of 7th St. in the Brooklyn area.The victims were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview, and there was no word on their conditions.The fire broke out at about 1 a.m. Officials said it is under investigation.

Governor Shocks GOP By Liking Proposals. Gov. Martin O’Malley announced on Thursday that he plans to incorporate some budget-cutting ideas that Republicans proposed last month, and Republican leaders said they’re surprised but grateful that the governor actually listened to what they had to say.

Navy Midshipman Charged With LarcenyA U.S. Naval Academy midshipman has been charged with larceny and loss and destruction of government property.The academy has scheduled a hearing Thursday in the case of Thomas Hayes, of South Glens Falls, N.Y.Academy officials have declined to comment on details pending the hearing.The charges are based on an investigation conducted by the Naval Criminal Investigative Services.Charges were first brought in January.

Officials: Pentagon Shooter Was Well Armed. The gunman who shot two Pentagon police officers was heavily armed and spent weeks driving to the Capital area from the West Coast, authorities said Friday. Resentment of the U.S. government and suspicions over the 9/11 attacks have surfaced in writings by the Californian identified as the man fatally wounded in a hail of return fire. John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif., was identified as the shooter and authorities said he’d had previous run-ins with the law.
