Radio Ads Attack Catholic School Closures. There’s a new salvo in the battle to keep more than a dozen Catholic schools open.A radio ad is accusing the archdiocese of forcing low and middle income families out of Baltimore City Catholic schools.On Wednesday, Archbishop Edwin O’Brien reiterated that 13 schools will close in several months and that he hopes to keep displaced students in the Catholic school system.

Baltimore Launches Virtual Supermarket. Baltimore’s Health Department has launched a project that lets residents of two neighborhoods not served by supermarkets to order groceries at the library and pick them up the next day. Officials said residents in east Baltimore and Washington Village are in so-called “food deserts,” meaning they don’t have access to healthy food options.

Some Sex Offender Bills Advance In House. The Maryland House of Representatives advanced a number of tougher measures regarding sex offenders on Wednesday.House Republicans rose in opposition to the sex offender bills that they said don’t go far enough, but Democrats shot down all attempted changes.

6 Men Charged With Rape Of Woman.  Charles County authorities said they have arrested half a dozen men on charges of sexually assaulting a 30-year-old woman from northern Virginia. The sheriff’s office said the woman was at an Alexandria, Va., nightclub on Monday when she met a man who later offered to drive her home. Officials said she went into his car and found several other men inside.
