Edgewater Plane Crash Victim Identified. Maryland State Police have released the name of the pilot killed in Saturday’s small plane crash in Edgewater.The victim is identified as 53-year-old Joseph Luther Kelly III, of Annapolis.The cause of the crash is undetermined.Emergency crews said the crash was first reported at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Edgewater, near Lee Airport and not far from the intersection of Solomons Island Road and Warehouse Creek Lane.
1 Killed In Hanover Crash. One person is dead after a crash east of Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover.Police said the crash happened at about 6:19 a.m. Saturday on Maryland Route 100.Firefighters said one victim had to be cut from the vehicle.Medics said Ogbonnaya Chibuzo Obi, 36, of Elkridge, was air lifted to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries. He is said to be in stable condition.Officers said Obi’s passenger, Ndukewe Ibisi, 39, of Jamaica Queens, N.Y., died at the scene.
Compromise Near For Unemployment Fund Fix. A compromise is near in a feverish effort to overhaul the state’s nearly bankrupt unemployment insurance fund.Business groups, the governor’s office and Democratic lawmakers are close to a deal. If successful, the state would get $127 million in federal funds, and those who are looking for work will continue to get benefits.
O’Malley Details Iraq Trip. Gov. Martin O’Malley is in Iraq on a Defense Department-sponsored goodwill trip to visit Maryland troops and discussed his mission with 11 News.The governor left Thursday morning and spoke with I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller about the trip, which is part of a Pentagon program to connect the country’s governors with troops from their respective states.
