Snow Should Be Minimal

Everyone across the area can breathe a sigh of relief. It appears that we may have dodged another snowstorm.  The storm was initially suspected of dropping another 6″ onto our area; but the forecast has been downgraded to slightly more than an inch. While relying on any weather forecaster is hit or miss; we have found that the students at Foot’s Forecast (we are not out of winter yet so bookmark that site)  have been much more accurate than any of the network meteorologists.

Certainly a dusting to an inch of snow would not close schools; but both Howard and Kent County have already closed schools for Tuesday due to ongoing cleanup of the past two storms.

While Anne Arundel Schools have not made a decision, spokesman, Bob Mosier agreed that safety is of paramount concern. We spoke with Mosier yesterday and he agreed with our observation that many City and County roads were still treacherous.

Hopefully this near miss with the current storm will allow City and County crews some additional time to clear the way for students and staff to get to school safely. In the meantime, the schools, County, and City are asking residents to pitch in and clear sidewalks, fire hydrants, and storm drains!
