Teacher Cuts Plea Agreement For Sex With Student

Breeds Cuts Deal To Avoid Jail

Kristyn Breeds, the Northeast High School teacher accused of a sexual relationship with a student cut a deal to avoid any jail time.

On Wednesday, Breeds agreed to 3 years of supervised probation.  But the case was not without some twists and turns. Apparently, this was not a case of a teacher taking advantage of a youth; but a true relationship akin to the Mary Kay LeTourneau. Apparently, while Breeds was out of jail on bail, she made contact with the victim and made arrangements to meet in Annapolis.  When it became apparent that her bail was in jeopardy, she agreed to the plea deal.

County Judge Thomas Pryal sentenced her to three years probation and she will not be required to register as a sex offender. Additionally, the Judge admonished Breeds that the relationship was improper and warned her to stay away from the victim or face the prospect of jail.

The victim’s mother was understandably upset and testified that her actions caused harm not only to her family, but the other students, the school, and the community as a whole. The victim has since withdrawn fro Northeast High and is taking college classes.

Breeds will be blackballed from teaching by the State Department of Education who will be revoking her teaching certificate.
