Storm Update #3: AA County Update

Anne Arundel County Update

Status update from the County Executive’s office:

We currently have 284 snow removal vehicles working in the road districts, focusing on main and collector roads. Many residential streets that have not received attention will be impassable. Expect snow covered arterial and collector roads, with narrowed or blocked lanes, and blocked intersections as heavy snow accumulations continue to be pushed.  Four tree crews have reported and are working on clearing trees blocking roads.  Roughly 2,500 tons of salt has been loaded onto salt spreading vehicles.

Motorist should plan to stay off all roads at this time.  Our crews are working 12-hour shifts, and call centers are staffed around the clock.  Residents can call their designated road district for service, or 911 in case of emergency.

As of 7:30 a.m., BGE was reporting 8,172 customers without power in Anne Arundel County and 8,046 customers restored.

The County does have an emergency shelter at Annapolis High School that is equipped with a generator for families and their pets.  There have been no requests to open the shelter.
