Customers Cry Foul As Gym Closes Suddenly.  Some customers of a local gym claim they were ripped off when the gym closed suddenly.Members at the Golds Gym in Parkville said they had little warning of the closure and were still charged their monthly dues.The gym had been in business for eight years.”it’s just been kind of lousy,” former member Jessica Schoeffield said.She said that because of the recent snowstorms, she was not able to get to the gym for more than a week and then got quite a surprise when she received an e-mail from gym explaining the closure.

Schools Could Get Up To 5 Snow Days Waived. The state Board of Education is granting a waiver of up to five days missed by students because of record snow.The decision does come with a few strings attached. School systems must submit their revised calendars to state schools Superintendent Dr. Nancy Grasmick.She will have the final say on how many days will be forgiven for each school district.

National Aquarium Awaits Dolphin Birth. A baby dolphin is on the way at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Aquarium officials said an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin named Jade is expected to give birth by mid-March. Aquarium staff and a group of 50 trained volunteers have begun around-the-clock observations for signs of labor so they can provide an ideal setting for Jade and the newborn calf following delivery.Careful preparation is important because in captivity and in the wild, about a third of all calves do not make it past their first year, staff said.

Republicans Offer budget Plan With Steeper Cuts.  Maryland Republicans have presented suggested budget cuts aimed at getting a grip on the state’s running deficit into future years. Proposals from House Republicans discussed on Tuesday would make roughly $829 million more reductions than Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley has proposed in his budget to address this fiscal year’s $2 billion deficit.
