Rush Is On To Reopen Schools.  Baltimore City schools are set to reopen Tuesday.Saturday, I-Team Lead Investigative Reporter Jayne Miller reported on the mad rush to get ready as schools work to clear school parking lots and sidewalks.How big of a job is it?”We have 178 buildings, we’re utilizing 460 custodians, we’re using all of our trucks, snow blowers and front-end loaders,” said Baltimore City Schools Chief Operating Officer Keith Scroggins.

Homeowners Have Responsibilities After Storm, Too.  While road crews are taking care of the streets after the blizzard, homeowners still have responsibilities to take care of themselves — and they have to worry about potential damage.It is the homeowner’s responsibility to remove snow from the sidewalks around their houses. They also must clear snow from around their mailboxes and adjacent fire hydrants and storm drains.

Trash Collection To Resume In Baltimore, Anne Arundel. The Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works will resume curbside collection Monday. The Millersville landfill and three homeowner convenience centers in Millersville, Glen Burnie and Sudley will be closed Monday in observance of President’s Day. The landfill and convenience centers will open again Tuesday.

Snowfall Drives Down Demand For Gas.  This year’s record-breaking snowfalls have had a positive impact on gas prices.AAA Mid-Atlantic said the average price of a gallon of gasoline fell coast-to-coast for the fifth week in row. Gas purchases nationwide fell 3.7 percent for the week that ended Feb. 5, with snowfall the biggest factor in the decline.However, the current price of a gallon of regular unleaded is still 68 cents higher than a year ago.
