Unanimous Nod From Board

From a press release issued a few moments ago, Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell has been unanimously re-appointed to a second 4 year term as head of the County Schools.

I think today’s vote shows that this Board is very pleased with the direction that Dr. Maxwell is leading our system, and we want to continue to work together to make great things happen in Anne Arundel County.

The Board of Education today unanimously voted to reappoint Superintendent Kevin M. Maxwell to a second four-year term as head of the state’s fifth largest school system.

Under state law, the Board had until March 1 to vote on the reappointment. Discussions will now proceed on the terms of a mutually agreed-upon contract between the Board and Dr. Maxwell. “I think today’s vote shows that this Board is very pleased with the direction that Dr. Maxwell is leading our system, and we want to continue to work together to make great things happen in Anne Arundel County,” Board President Ned Carey said.

Dr. Maxwell has been superintendent since July 1, 2006. He is the first Superintendent to be appointed to a second term since Dr. Carol S. Parham in 1998. “This has been a real partnership over the last four years,” Dr. Maxwell said. “We talk a lot about our Journey To Greatness, and I believe we are well on our way. I look forward to at least four more years of working with this Board and the incredible employees, parents, students, and community groups we are so privileged to have in our county.”
