Packages A Target

The City police have recently seen an increase in theft of packages delivered to homes while the homeowners are at work.  It seems that a thief will follow a UPS or Fedex truck and pick up the packages left behind.  It is a good practice to insist that all packages require a signature and not be left alone. If that is not possible, make arrangements to have the package delivered to your place of work or to a trusted neighbor.

According to a release this morning, the pharmacy on Giddings Avenue was the victim of an armed robbery.

Armed Robbery – On Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 9:29 AM officers responded to the pharmacy at 703 Giddings Avenue for the report of an armed robbery. A victim told officers that the suspect walked into the store, displayed a black semi-auto handgun and demanded Oxycondone. The victim put the Oxycondone into a bag that the suspect was carrying. The suspect then ran from the store. Responding officers set a perimeter around the area and Anne County Police K-9 unit responded to conduct a track. The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 20s, 6ft, about 180lbs. During the robbery he wore black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with a black mask covering his entire face. He also wore white surgical gloves. The investigation is continuing.

We are not sure how a person with a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black mask covering his entire face, and white surgical gloves can be so accurately described as a “white male in his mid 20s.”
